Let’s talk about salt… Himalayan or Celtic sea salt I don’t mind which ….. it is just so important to us!!
It’s a myth that salt causes high blood pressure … yes too much salty processed food is a huge problem but good quality salt when living cleanly is so important…. Please note white table salt is not salt but chemically produced and has no health benefits whatsoever … if you’ve got it in your kitchen Chuck it out
There’s actually more studies showing that low sodium diets can cause health issues!!
So why…. A lot of its to do with stress and our adrenal glands… our adrenal glands produce many hormones not just cortisol our stress hormone however when we are chronically stressed our adrenals become fatigued and then stop producing all the other hormones we need …. Aldosterone is one of these hormones …aldosterone balances our sodium and potassium these two work in conjunction to keep every one of a cells stable and aldosterone is responsible for keeping this balance …. If you aren’t secreting enough aldosterone because you are stressed you can end up craving salt
When we don’t have enough salt in the diet our aldosterone becomes deregulated this can cause insulin resistant making you fat and your sympathetic nervous system response become deregulated so you feel stressed more easily … plus your cholesterol and triglycerides go up
The best time to have salt is first thing in some water this resets and nourishes your adrenals … it tells them if you like that they have everything they need to work properly… in return for this you end up dealing with stress better and have more energy ….. how easy is that?
